Avery’s place card range
Avery’s place card range is smaller than its business card or label ranges and concentrated on a few formats: tent cards (folded so the name is visible from both sides of the table), flat cards (single-side print, often used with stands), and perforated tent variants where the score line is pre-creased to make folding faster on bulk runs. Most of the range is built around standard guest-list quantities — 8-up or 10-up sheets that tile cleanly into 50, 75 and 100-guest events without leftover cards.
Place card products at a glance
The three codes below cover most home and small-event place card workflows. All sit on US Letter sheets.
| SKU | Format | Card size (folded) | Layout | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5302 | Tent card | 2 × 3.5 in folded (4 × 3.5 flat) | 8-up | Wedding tables; round-table seating |
| 8395 | Tent card, perforated | 2 × 3.5 in folded (4 × 3.5 flat) | 8-up | Bulk runs; pre-scored fold line |
| 5305 | Flat card | 3.5 × 2 in | 10-up | Long banquet tables; flat with stand |
The 5302 and 8395 are functionally identical when finished — both are tent cards at the same dimensions. The 8395 perforation pre-scores the fold, which saves time on a 100-card wedding run; the 5302 sheets fold cleanly enough by hand for smaller events that the perforation is unnecessary. The 5305 flat sheets are 10-up rather than 8-up, which is useful when the guest count is closer to 100 than 75.

Finding Avery templates in Word
Word’s built-in templates cover the current Avery place card codes. Two ways to reach them:
- Mailings > Labels > Options. Set Label Vendors to “Avery US Letter” and search the Product Number list for the code (5302, 8395, 5305).
- File > New, search the Avery code. Templates that exist in the local library open with each card as an editable table cell.
For Avery’s tent cards, Word’s template usually formats the top and bottom halves of each card identically — the same name appears on both halves so it reads correctly from either side once folded. Check this is the case with your template before running mail merge: occasionally older 5302 templates only print one side, requiring a manual workaround. For larger guest lists, set up a mail merge from an Excel guest list — see the free printable place card templates article for the workflow.
Print and finishing
Print one test sheet on plain paper before committing card stock — registration matters more on tent cards because misalignment shows up on the fold. Manual-feed card stock one sheet at a time on home printers; the heavier card weight jams roller stacks.
After printing 5302 cards, fold each card along the centre line by hand or use a bone folder for a cleaner crease. The 8395 perforated sheets fold with no creasing tool needed. For 5305 flat cards, no folding step is required, but you’ll need a separate stand or holder.
A note on Avery codes: Avery occasionally renames or replaces SKUs as ranges get refreshed. If a code referenced here doesn’t appear in your Word template chooser, check avery.com for the current equivalent — the underlying card dimensions are the durable detail.
